The "Why"
After more than 25 years in the field, we have learned that there is no such thing as “denial” in addiction—there is only fear of change. This fear creates resistance, which fuels addiction and damages relationships. The truth is, every addicted individual wants help deep down. This is why interventions are powerful tools when they are managed correctly. 
Families can protect themselves from fear‑based escalation by learning to work together as a unified team or “crew.” Addiction thrives in chaos, so when families are divided or enabling unhealthy behavior, the problem will continue. Choosing the right interventionist—your “crew coach”—and assembling the right team will significantly increase your chances of success.
